About the Foundation
The Lago Vista ISD Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and the official fundraising and grantmaking partner for Lago Vista ISD. Our mission is to mobilize community investment to enhance education and expand opportunities for students across the district.
In partnership with donors, businesses, and community members, we fund high-impact initiatives that go beyond standard school budgets. Through the Education Impact Fund, we support teacher-led classroom grants, provide direct resources to meet immediate needs, and invest in larger projects that enhance student spaces and experiences.
From innovative classroom ideas to campus-wide improvements, our work is focused on creating meaningful, measurable outcomes for students and educators. By connecting community support with district priorities, we help ensure every investment makes a lasting impact.
Established in 1999
The Foundation was founded in 1999 with a simple but powerful vision to invest in the students, teachers, and classrooms that shape the Lago Vista community.
That vision began with then-Superintendent Jesse Butler, who, alongside a dedicated group of community leaders, set out to create a lasting source of support for local education. After filing incorporation documents in 1998 and establishing bylaws in early 1999, the foundation officially came to life.
At the heart of its beginning was an extraordinary act of generosity. In 1998, Francis Winn, a grandparent of LVISD students, made a $100,000 donation with one intention to benefit the district’s students and teachers. With no restrictions, his gift became the foundation upon which the organization was built, setting the tone for a legacy of community-driven support that continues today.
Through its grant program, the Foundation has awarded more than $200,000 to 100+ teacher-driven initiatives and district projects that directly support students and staff.
